1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how HandleAm Tech Limited (RC 9718125), operating the HandleAm platform from 17 Supreme Mothers Street, Effurun, Delta State, Nigeria (“HandleAm”, “we”), collects and uses personal data when you use handleam.com, our booking and tracking pages, the technician app, the supplier portal, or contact us. HandleAm is the data controller for this processing.

2. The personal data we collect

Customers:

  • Name and phone number (and email if provided)
  • Service address and location details needed to dispatch a technician
  • Generator details, fault description, and photos relating to the job
  • Job history, quotes, approvals, and communications about the job
  • Payment records — amounts, references, and status. Card and bank details are collected and processed by Paystack, not stored by HandleAm

Technicians:

  • Name, phone, photo, and identity verification details collected during vetting
  • Skills, certifications, and vetting outcomes
  • Bank account details for payouts
  • Job activity: assignments, status updates, timestamps, job photos (including receipt-confirmation photos), and approximate location/zone while working
  • Device information needed to deliver push notifications

Suppliers:

  • Business name, contact person, phone, address, and verification details
  • Bank account details for payouts, order history, and fulfilment records

Everyone:

  • Technical data: IP address, device/browser type, and logs generated when you use the Platform, including error reports

3. How we collect it

Directly from you when you book, register, or communicate with us; automatically when you use the Platform (logs, device data, job status events); from technicians and suppliers in the course of a job (for example, a job photo); and from our payment processor (payment status and references).

4. Why we use it and our lawful bases under the NDPA

  • To provide the service — taking bookings, dispatching technicians, sourcing parts, presenting prices, tracking jobs, collecting payment, and making payouts (lawful basis: performance of a contract)
  • To send service communications by SMS, WhatsApp, push notification, or call — booking confirmations, technician arrival, price approvals, payment receipts (contract; legitimate interests)
  • To vet technicians and verify suppliers before admission to the Platform (legitimate interests; legal obligation where applicable)
  • To handle disputes, investigate complaints, and maintain quality and safety, including reviewing job photos and records (legitimate interests)
  • To keep the Platform secure, prevent fraud, and monitor errors (legitimate interests; legal obligation)
  • To comply with law — tax, accounting, and lawful requests from authorities (legal obligation)
  • To send marketing, only where you have consented, with opt-out in every message (consent)

5. Who we share it with

We share personal data only as needed to run the service:

  • Between users on a job: the assigned technician sees the customer’s name, contact, address, and job details; the customer sees the technician’s first name, photo, and job progress; suppliers see the part order details needed to fulfil it — not the customer’s full profile
  • Paystack (payments and payouts) — payment card and bank processing under Paystack’s own terms
  • Termii (SMS delivery) and WhatsApp/Meta where you contact us on WhatsApp
  • Google Firebase (push notifications to the technician app)
  • Amazon Web Services (cloud hosting and file storage) and Cloudflare (network and security services)
  • Sentry (error monitoring, which may capture technical data tied to your session)
  • Professional advisers, and authorities where the law requires it

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

6. International transfers

The Personal Data that we collect from you will be transferred to and stored at a destination outside Nigeria. By submitting your Personal Data, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your Personal Data is treated securely and in accordance with this Policy. All Personal Data you provide to us is stored on our secure cloud storage solution.

7. How long we keep it

  • Job records, payment records, and payout records: 7 years, in line with tax and accounting requirements
  • Job photos: 12 months after job completion unless needed for an open dispute
  • Technician vetting records: for the duration of the technician’s participation plus 12 months
  • Tracking-link job pages: accessible for 90 days after completion, then archived
  • Logs and error reports: 90 days

When data is no longer needed, we delete it or irreversibly anonymise it.

8. How we protect it

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted storage, access controls limiting staff access to what their role requires, private (non-public) file storage with time-limited access links, network security controls, and monitoring. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the protection of your data seriously and will notify you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission of any breach as the NDPA requires.

9. Your rights

Under the NDPA you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; request deletion where it is no longer needed; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; receive a portable copy of data you provided; and not be subject to solely automated decisions with significant effects. Technician assignment and pricing on the Platform involve automated processes; you may ask us to explain or review any outcome that significantly affects you.

To exercise any right, contact info@handleam.com or +234 904 732 3280. We will respond within the timelines required by the NDPA. If you are unsatisfied, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng).

10. Cookies and local storage

The Platform uses only strictly necessary cookies and local storage: keeping you signed in (technicians, suppliers, staff), securing forms, and — in the technician app — storing job data on your device so the app works offline. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics cookies. If that changes, this policy and an appropriate consent mechanism will be updated first.

11. Children

The Platform is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the Platform or by the contact details you have provided, with the effective date shown at the top.
